Congratulations to GTPG member Erik Centeno! He was awarded the 2020 ECE Opportunity Research Scholars (ORS) Outstanding Service Award for the academic year. Erik has been a tireless member of ORS for four years, serving on our very own Space Solar Power team. He has graduated this spring from Georgia Tech and will be joining AT&T in Atlanta. Well done, Erik!
ORS Team’s Final Research Project
The 18th annual School of ECE Opportunity Research Scholars presentations completed in April (virtually, of course). Below is the video presentation for this year’s GTPG undergraduate ORS research group, which consisted of Erik Centeno, Alaina Do, Rafael Figueroa, Evan Shi, and Lycia Tran. Cheng Qi was the PhD mentor. Congratulations on another fine year! All of the posters and presentations may be found on the ORS site.
Wireless Power Demo on the ISS
Here is an interesting article about a wireless power experiment on the ISS. Below is a video on the demonstration of a LEctenna in space (that’s Light Emitting diode + rectenna) – a first of its kind. Also include (thank’s to our friend Dr. Paul Jaffe from the Naval Research Lab) is a video on how to make a LEctenna.
Congratulations, Fanpeng!
Congratulations to Fanpeng Kong, who successfully defended his PhD dissertation on Monday, 10 March 2020. The work, entitled “Development and Evaluation of An Intraoral Tongue Operated Assistive Technology for People with Quadriparesis,” generated a new way to bring mobility to quadriplegic people and a prolific number of technical publications. Sorry folks, but Fanpeng already has a job accepted in the San Diego area.
